The Swedish American Carpenter
This photo was produced for a local competition that was cancelled at the last moment. It some what represents a picture of my father who came over from Sweden with his parents when he was six months old and settled in Chicago. He attended grade school, high school, enlisted in the Navy was discharged (Honorable) attended trade school, became a carpenter (great craftsman). He married my mother and of course since has passed away. The skill saw, planer and router all still work great!

First blooms of spring. Bloodroot salvaged from a nearby property targeted for new construction. Native Americans used bloodroot as a dye for their skin and in small doses, as a tonic for the blood as well as other remedies. Some traditional herbalists consider bloodroot to be poisonous. Its a great remedy mentally to see the first blooms so early in the spring! Shot with Nikon D200 and a Nikon 28-105MM lens.

Living in a downtown area our neighbor, a florist has a long time standing acre across the street that grows cut flowers for their client arrangements. Obviously providing fun subjects for digital photography.
